PLAYTIME Floatables Chosen For Durability at Twelfth Great Wolf Lodge Resort!
May 20, 2009
North America's largest family of indoor water park resorts, Great Wolf Lodge, recently opened its twelfth resort in Concord, NC -- loaded with PLAYTIME floatables.
As with the 11 other locations, aquatics designers chose PLAYTIME elements for the popular pools. Michael Shafer, Aquatics Maintenance Manager with the Grapevine, TX resort, says PLAYTIME elements hold up to the constant use.
"I have seen some not make it through four months. These have been in the water for 18 months and still look new."
Shafer adds, "PLAYTIME provided the floatables in the Activity Pool and Outdoor Pool. We have several different floatables that are anchored to the floor including five lily pads and five logs that are used for our net crossover. We also have one tree branch, a snake, a beaver and an acorn."
Amanda Sawyer, Public Relations Manager with the Grapevine, TX resort, says the indoor water park spans 80,000 square feet. They also have an 84,000-square-foot outdoor water park, which is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Both are fantastically popular and Sawyer says the indoor park, which is open year-round, provides their core demographic "families" with a great escape in any weather.
"Especially in Texas, families like to have a quick getaway," she says. "Our water park provides fun family entertainment. It's completely weather-proof and 84 degrees year-round. Families can enjoy it any time of year, whether it's overcast or snowing!"
Richard Speake is a Project Designer at Water Technology, Inc. They have designed water parks and municipal pools using PLAYTIME products. Water Technology, Inc. uses a bid process to select their water play providers, so Speake says he's worked with "every provider in the last five years" and each brings assets to different projects.
"PLAYTIME is good to work with," says Speake. "They are far more creative than their competitors."
But as any good Aquatics Manager (and dad) knows, it all comes down to fun!
"Kids love them!" says Shafer of the PLAYTIME products. "They spend a lot of time in the activity pool climbing and trying to stay on top of them. Sometimes they make a game out of seeing who can stay on the longest, or how many they can get on a particular floatable. Kids also love the crossover. There is always a line waiting to see who can make it across. Some kids don't even try using the net; they try to run on top of the pads without falling in the water.
"I have a 6-year-old daughter and that is her favorite thing to do in the water park."
Great Wolf Lodge operates locations in Wisconsin Dells, WI.; Sandusky, OH; Traverse City, MI.; Kansas City, KS.; Williamsburg, VA.; the Pocono Mountains, PA.; Niagara Falls, Ontario; Mason, OH; Grapevine, TX; Grand Mound, WA.; and Concord, NC.
