Kids Bouyant at Houston TX area Colonial Park Pool Opening
June 4, 2010
“The log floatable and lily pad watercross activities are a BIG hit!” reports Haley Panton, P.E. & Project Manager for Water Technology, Inc. “The parks and rec department has received nothing but positive feedback from families visiting the pool.”
The completely redesigned Colonial Park pool and pool house opened Memorial Weekend at 4130 Byron Street, in West University Place, Texas.
The new 10,000 s.f., state-of-the-art outdoor aquatics facility features a lily pad waterwalk and 10-foot floating log at the center of the pool, provided by PLAYTIME. UV and chlorine stable, the PLAYTIME classic water play elements engage little swimmers into a fun-filled experience.
"There's a tremendous amount of pride and joy in this project," Parks and Recreation Director Tim O'Connor. “It will definitely be our department's legacy."
The new West University Rec Center and Colonial Park Pool improvements were funded with municipal bond issue and contributions from the Lewis Family Charitable Foundation and Friends of West University Place Parks.
Multigenerational attendence has skyrocketed at the new Colonial Park Pool.
"We've sold a record number of memberships, and have already recovered 42% of our annual operating budget in the first week since opening," said O'Connor proudly. "We've got everyone from grandparents floating on the log with their older grandkids, to parents with toddlers in the zero entry depth area. We're even seeing the tweens and teens back and in their social element."
Colonial Park Pool daily and season passes are available at the Colonial Park Pool, with more information online at www.westu.org. The family oriented, zero-depth swimming pool is open daily from 10 am – 7 pm. Additional amenities at Colonial Park include a diving board, drop slide, toddler area, concession stand, pool party rental areas, multi-purpose room, and two new lighted tennis courts.
