“Kids love the floatables and pools that install them usually have standing-room-only,” says JaCinda Tuesing, Designer and Project Manager with Aquatic Facility Design. “I’ve been to several pool grand openings and I can honestly say that the floatables are the thing that the 12- to 13-year-old kids get excited about, and they can be a hard market to please.”

Aquatic Facility Design, Inc. was hired by the J.S. Mack Foundation in Indiana, PA to renovate a 1950s-era public pool.

“The J.S. Mack Pool was a very large flat-water facility,” Tuesing explains. “They wanted to bring it up to modern times, so we added 64 feet of zero-entry to the pool inside the existing pool shell. We also added a peninsula and a 25-yard competition swimming area, and two 50-meter training lanes.”

Throughout the pool, Aquatic Facility Designs, Inc. (AFD) designed into the theme several soft-sculpted play elements from PLAYTIME.

“We included a bolt-down starfish in the zero-entry area for the toddlers to climb on,” says Tuesing.

Deeper into the pool, in the intermediate play area, AFD added an eight-foot shark, a floating log raft and a floating manta ray.

“We really tried to do something for everybody,” Tuesing says. “Floatables give you something for those older grade-school and middle-school kids who may no longer be satisfied by just the spray features. For us, the floatables fill a void for that age. Kids love floatables because they can be more social and the elements keep them active.”

PLAYTIME water play elements – bolt-downs and floatables – are UV- and chlorine-stable and can engage kids of all ages.

Tuesing says she enjoys working with PLAYTIME on projects.

“I choose product vendors based on the customer service they give AFD and the clients,” she says. “PLAYTIME really serves their customers well. I know that if my clients have a concern, PLAYTIME will go out of their way to solve it as soon as possible. If we want something custom or if we have a specific need, they are really good about bending over backwards to accommodate us.

“They are very excited about what they do.”
