Engage Moms: PLAYTIME helps them make friends while increasing childcare business
October 29, 2009
Creating programs that tie fitness class schedules with childcare and play dates are helping Moms connect with like-minded Moms who are actively seeking out friendships to fill the void of a lack of best friend or strong inner circle.
Recently, MediaPost and Mom Central released results of a survey conducted to understand Moms' social habits, specifically focusing on their attitudes towards networking, community, and sense of self. The data revealed that Moms of all ages are lonely and are looking to form new friendships based on shared interests, life events, and parenting support. In fact, 58% report experiencing loneliness in the past month, and 4 out of 5 need more friends in their lives.
More than ever, childcare services should focus on providing Moms with opportunities for connectivity. Installing new play areas and features to entertain kids offer Moms free time to build relationships.
Successful clubs like ClubOne at Silvercreek are being rewarded with Mom’s loyalty with new member referrals. And with kids begging mom to go to the health club for its play area – that’s an added motivator to get out and connect.
“The play area has definitely helped our business. The parents love our equipment, they love that it’s safe and their kids are having a great time,” said Melissa Guinane, childcare supervisor at ClubOne at SilverCreek Sportsplex in San Jose, CA. “It’s just a really inviting play space. Just watch our video!”
