Playtime Play Elements Certified Antibacterial and Fungal Resistant
October 25, 2010
“The glossy PLAYTIME urethanes on our products make them naturally antibacterial,” says Mike Evans, President and CEO of PLAYTIME. “This is great news for centers that offer a healthy, clean play environment for families.”
Germs have become the buzzword for a danger people want to eliminate from their surroundings, especially in areas where kids play. Safe and durable, PLAYTIME’s smooth finish materials are naturally antibacterial, ensuring a healthy play environment for kids of all ages.
PLAYTIME recently received certification that its surface materials kill bacteria and reduce fungi that come in contact with the coating.
PLAYTIME used an independent third party testing laboratory that performs product testing and validation for manufacturers. The testing lab performed rigorous testing of the PLAYTIME play element materials and coatings. Using published ASTM methods G21 and E2180, the tests determined that the PLAYTIME materials and coatings killed bacteria and reduced fungi that came in contact with them. These results indicate that products produced by PLAYTIME are antibacterial for both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and are resistant to fungi and mold.
“What do we mean by naturally antibacterial? We do not use antimicrobial additives in our PLAYTIME products,” added Evans.
PLAYTIME begins with an organic process that uses a collaboration of our clients’ and our designers’ ideas to bring imaginative play pieces to life. After our skilled craftsman shape the design out of foam core, and add additional foam layers, the pieces are sprayed with a specialized rubber. Airbrush artists then add colorful details and a clear coating that bring the PLAYTIME pieces to life.
Parents appreciate a clean play area, so PLAYTIME recommends adding site-specific daily cleaning and maintenance programs to our customers’ general facilities operations and maintenance programs.
With continual research and development, PLAYTIME is committed to improving and innovating new safe and healthy play area concepts.
